A less invasive examination for atrial tachycardias after surgery for congenital heart disease.

چکیده
he clinical results of corrective surgery for congenital heart disease have dramatically improved during the past quarter of a century. As a result, many children who have undergone cardiac surgery in their childhood have now grown up to adults. These patients often have morbidities related to the congenital disease and surgeries they received (adult congenital heart disease). Atrial tachyarrhythmias are the most common among the adult congenital heart diseases and frequently impair the quality of life (QOL) of the patients and even result in sudden cardiac death in patients with a rapid ventricular response or impaired ventricular function. 1,2

Comparative study of pulse oximetry, physical examination and echocardiography results in the diagnosis of congenital heart defects in neonates in the first 24 hours of life
Introduction: Congenital heart disease is the most common congenital anomaly. About 50% of Neonates with congenital heart disease are asymptomatic in the first few days of life and are not diagnosed on initial examination. Pulse oximetry is a non-invasive method that can show the percentage of oxygen saturation in the blood and congenital heart disease. Methods: This was a descriptive cross-se...
متن کاملFigure-8 Tachycardia Confined to the Anterior Wall of the Left Atrium
Incisional atrial tachycardias have been described most frequently in patients with previous corrective surgery for congenital heart defects and mitral valve disease. Less information is available on atrial tachycardias appearing late after isolated aortic valve surgery. We report the case of a patient who developed a left figure-8 tachycardia after undergoing aortic valve replacement. During e...
متن کاملElectroanatomical mapping for visualization of atrial activation in patients with incisional atrial tachycardias.
AIMS Incisional atrial tachycardias in patients following surgery for congenital heart disease are based on complex structural abnormalities in these hearts. The aim of this study was to evaluate the use of the electroanatomical mapping system, CARTO, in consecutive patients with different forms of incisional atrial tachycardia. METHODS AND RESULTS The electroanatomical mapping system combine...
متن کاملCritical dose of digoxin for treating supraventricular tachycardias after heart surgery.
This study was conducted to ascertain if critical peak body stores of digoxin were needed to protect patients from the debilities that result from supraventricular tachycardias occurring after open heart operations. We gave digoxin peak body stores of 15 micrograms/kg of lean body weight to 100 consecutive patients after open heart operations. If supraventricular tachycardias persisted four hou...
متن کاملAtrial Tachycardias Occurring Late After Open Heart Surgery
Atrial tachycardias are common after open heart surgery. Most commonly these are macro-reentrant including cavotricuspid isthmus dependent atrial flutter, incisional right atrial flutter and left atrial flutter. Focal atrial tachycardias occur less frequently. The specific type of atrial tachycardia highly depends on the type of surgical incision. Catheter ablation can be very effective, howeve...
